The Marathon County Sheriff's Department has a new tool to fight crime and inform the public on crime statistics in their area.
Crimereports.com allows law enforcement to update local crime statistics through an interactive map, creating more transparency in the department.
The public will now be able to view a near real-time interactive map of their the area, send anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers, and access the site from their mobile devices.
More than 1,000 other law enforcement agencies of all sizes across North America are sharing information through the site. PublicEngines, the company behind the site, reports the map currently covers nearly 30% of the US population.
