After nearly 20 people were arrested in just one week, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department says it is taking a tough stance on methamphetamine.
Last week Everest Metro Police raided a hotel room where $12,000 worth of meth was seized and eight people were arrested.
Wausau police later raided a home where even more people were arrested.
Marathon County Sheriff Scott Parks says that all of the recent arrests send a message.
"I think that any time that you have a series of arrests such as this, it does make a statement to the community and to those that want to traffic these substances that we do take it very seriously and that we are going to make a difference and make arrests. " says Parks.
Parks says some of those arrested were heavily involved in drug trafficking into the Marathon County area.
