Marathon County Judge Retires

Marathon County Circuit Judge Vincent Howard says Friday will be his last day. The announcement was made last November.

Judge Howard was first appointed to Branch 4 of the Marathon County Circuit Court in 1982, elected in 1983 and re-elected in 1989. He lost his election in 1995 to current Judge Greg Grau. He was appointed that same year to succeed current Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in the Branch 3 court and elected in 1996. He was re-elected in 2002 and 2008.

In his thirty years on the bench he has presided over many notable trials, most recently the Kevin Zarm arson and the Dale and Leilani Neumann prayer death case.
