We now know the identity of the father who drowned Wednesday while trying to save his daughter. Forty-two-year-old Xavier Patton of Merrill died after going underwater in Crystal Lake near Tomahawk.
Investigators say Patton was helping his struggling daughter in about 10 feet of water when he went down Wednesday afternoon. Another man dove in and pulled him to shore, but was unable to save him.
Patton was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
