MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A body that middle-school students found floating in a Madison lagoon has been identified as that of a 55-year-old man.
The Dane County medical examiner's office identified the man Saturday as Calvin Ewing of Madison.
Preliminary results suggest that he drowned. The medical examiner's office is conducting more tests to determine the time, manner and cause of death.
Ewing's fully clothed body was found floating about 8 feet offshore in Warner Park lagoon Friday afternoon.
His body was spotted by a small group of eighth-grade students and supervising staff from Sherman Middle School.
The students were returned immediately to school. A letter sent from the district to the students' parents and guardians says the kids were offered support by the student services team.
