Man Gets 30 Years for Killing Father in Kenosha

A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing his father in Kenosha.

Brian Novak was convicted of second-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon in the death of 59-year-old Michael Novak. The son allegedly punched, stomped and beat him in the head with an electric guitar on Sept. 1, 2010 at the father's house.

Brian Novak and his girlfriend had been living with him.

The bludgeoning happened after several months of conflict between them, including the father's alleged sexual interest in the son's girlfriend.

The Kenosha News reports (http://bit.ly/R4XRhi ) Novak also received 15 years of extended supervision after release from prison.

He originally was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. But jurors during the June trial accepted the lesser charge because they believed he was adequately provoke
