UPDATE: 6/12/14 - 8:40 p.m.
State Patrol says the man who ran from a traffic stop on Wednesday after giving troopers his I.D. is not Christopher Cogdill.
Troopers tell NewsChannel 7 the suspect some how got Cogdill's I.D. Cogdill went to the State Patrol saying he wasn't the man who ran.
The man troopers are looking for is still on the run.
The State Patrol said they're unsure why a passenger fled during a traffic stop Wednesday in Rib Mountain, but will refer him for charges of fleeing an officer.
A Sgt. tells us they're investigating why Christopher Cogdill, 28, ran from the scene, after handing a trooper his ID. Investigators say a vehicle was stopped at northbound Highway 51 near Highway NN around noon Wednesday for a broken windshield and seat belt violations.
The driver was cited for operating with a suspended license.
Investigators say the passenger, Cogdill ran into the woods near Home Depot. He had not been arrested as of 1 p.m. Thursday. The search was called off just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, as the woods in that area is too dense.
State Patrol said he has a lengthy criminal past.
Our reporter at the scene said a road closure was not in place, but there was a large presence of law enforcement.
