A 45-year-old Fond du Lac man remains in the Marathon County jail on a $5,000 cash bond after he's accused of driving more than 100 mph on I-39 near Mosinee over the weekend.
State Patrol says they stopped a southbound driver on I-39 north of Highway 153 around 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Inside the vehicle officers found a six pack of bottled beer, some of the bottles were open.
Nikolas Tries is charged with his 5th OWI. He was also issued a citation for speeding more than 35 mph over the posted speed limit and having open intoxicants.
According to audio from patrol dash video, at one point, Tries was traveling at 113 mph on I-39.
Dash cam video captures Tries telling the trooper quote, "I didn't know my car could do 118".
A preliminary breath test taken at the scene, showed he had a blood alcohol level of .162; more than two times greater than level limit for driving.
Tries will return to May 14 to learn if his case will head to trial.
