A Southeastern Wisconsin man wants a preliminary hearing for some charges he faces after an odd incident that was caught on tape in Price County.
Online court records say 28-year-old Jesse Rutherford of Big Bend made the request during a court appearance Tuesday.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a home about 25 miles southeast of Phillips on May 18, around 10:15 p.m.
They say a church youth group was camping in a yard when a man, later identified Rutherford, approached them with a gun.
He's accused of telling the group to get on their knees and help him get his car out of a ditch.
When the car would not start, police say Rutherford let some of the boys go when they told him they would come back with a truck to pull his car out. That's when they ran and called for help.
He's charged with eight crimes including recklessly endangering safety.
Rutherford is free on a $5,000 cash bond.
A preliminary hearing is where a judge decides if there's enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
