One person has been arrested after strange incident in Weston.
According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, an officer noticed a man walking along the shoulder of Highway 29, just east of Highway J. When the officer activated his lights, the man threw the backpack he was carrying into the ditch.
The man told the officer the backpack was not his. A second officer searched the backpack and found two loaded guns, one of which was reported stolen. The man was also in possession of marijuana and had an active warrant from the Green Bay Police Department.
The news release states a search of the area began after two people near the scene, who appeared to be in a disabled vehicle, ran into the woods after they saw officers talking to the first man. The Marathon County Deputies were unable to locate the couple, but do believe the incidents are related.
