The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a 46-year-old man died in a snowmobile accident over the weekend.

The accident happened on Sunday around 6 p.m.

Warden Gary Eddy says the male victim was traveling when he struck two snowbanks causing him and the machine to go airborne. The victim was found with the snowmobile along the west shore of Lac Vieux Desert Lake.

Speed may have been a contributing factor. The accident remains under investigation.

The accident brings the total number of fatalities this season to 20.
