A 22-year-old Minnesota man convicted of killing his girlfriend in October 2012, will spend 28 years in prison followed by seven years extended supervision.
Richi Vue was initially charged with 1st degree intentional homicide, however the charge was amended to 1st degree reckless homicide to which Vue pleaded guilty. As result, four additional charges were dismissed, three of which can be considered during sentencing. Vue reached the plea deal with prosecutors last October.
On October 13, 2012 officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 5100 block of Aspen Street in Weston for a report of possible shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they found the body of Lee Xiong, 20. She was pronounced dead at the scene. She died of a single gunshot wound.
Court documents say Vue fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and was arrested near Abbotsford about five hours later.
A judge also ordered that Vue pay $2,000 to a crime victim compensation program.
