One Clark County community leader is collecting signatures prove there is enough interest to re-open a grocery store. In 2008, the IGA store closed and nothing took its place.
Currently, residents in Loyal must drive to Greenwood or Spencer to buy groceries, but Mayor Dave Williams hopes that will change by this fall. Williams, who is also in charge of the city’s Economic Development Corporation says signatures will be collected until the end of September. During an interview with WEAU-TV he said a local party has shown interest in opening a grocery store.
If you live in the community and would like to add your signature to the petition you can do so at:
Loyal Farm & Home Center
Mike's Tire Service
Loyal City Hall
Williams says the amount of signatures will give future investors a better idea of community interest and support for a new grocery store.
