There is still time to register for the 3rd annual “Big Hairy Deal” event this weekend in Neillsville.
The event asks people to collect pledges, although it's not necessary, and donate at least eight inches of their hair. The ponytails are sent to Locks of Love and the pledges are donated to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.
Locks of Love is charity program that creates wigs using real hair for children suffering from any disease where they'd need to wear a hair piece.
Donors must have a minimum of eight inches to donate. If you have ten or more inches cut off, it will be sent to the Locks of Love, eight to ten inches will be sent to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
The event will be held Sunday, February 23 beginning at 1 pm Neillsville High School Fieldhouse,
Participant will have their hair cut and styled for free by local beauticians.
If you'd like to sign up to donate your hair for this year's even you can sign up on Facebook, an info packet with then be mailed to you.
Last year, organizers said they collected 85 ponytails and raised nearly $2,400.
