Some local teens are learning the importance of making a difference this week. More than 30 middle students from the Wausau Area Catholic Parishes are spending the week volunteering as part of their annual week of service.
Some of their stops include St. Vincent de Paul, The Neighbors Place, and the Hope Pregnancy Center. John Schmitt, the director of faith mission at St. Anne's Parish, says the teens are learning about more than just volunteering this week.
"It's the key of service learning, we're doing the service, but at each of the sites we're coming to, the heads of the agencies are giving the students a good introduction of what each of those organizations are about and what they're doing to help the Wausau and Marathon County community" says Schmitt.
Schmitt also says this is a great way for the teens to network with other parishes.
