A local teenager is being honored by a national retailer. Rachel Ley started Literacy for Little Ones in 2009 when she was just 12 years old. Now, at 17, she's continuing her goal of putting books in the hands of new parents.

She says growing up with books around her helped her realize how important reading to our little ones really is.

"I talked about this with my mom and she explained to me how she kept me on a 10 books a day diet, when I was an infant," Rachel said, "up until kindergarden she would read 10 books to me everyday to get me started with reading."

Rachel received $7,500 from Build A Bear as one of the 2014 huggable heroes.
