The latest test scores show many schools in our area are doing well on the ACT tests.
Wisconsin ranks second in the nation in ACT scores. The state averages 22 out of a possible 36 points.
Many high schools in Wood County seem to be doing especially well.
Marshfield High School's average composite score is 24, the highest in our area.
Other smaller schools like Pittsville High School also scored well above average.
They credit giving each student individual attention with helping to improve scores.
"Each class is geared toward the level where the students are and it is customized to move them up toward higher achievement and that is huge with what we do here." says Principal Mark Weddig.
Other area districts which saw scores above state average include Athens, Marathon City, and Rhinelander.
