Lincoln County Man Keeping Homeless Veterans Warm

It all started with a call to action from the Milwaukee based homeless veterans initiative, which helps keep those warm that have defended this country without question.

Thousands of boots, hats and jackets are being donated. Even though the cold weather gear is headed south, organizers know that the coat drive is still very important. Homeless veterans from North Central Wisconsin often head to southern parts of the state for the winter.

Rick Wolf, the man behind the idea and a Veterans Service Officer told us, “Homeless veterans are hard to reach and there are lots of them that need to be reached.”

So far Rick has been overwhelmed by the out pouring of donations in other communities like Antigo and Portage who have also pitched in.

The coat drive ends December 14th so there is still time to donate. You can give hats, gloves, and preferably new blankets along with any other warm winter wear.

Donations can be dropped off at the Veterans Service Officer in the Lincoln County Service Center at 801 N. Sales St. in Merrill or call 715-539-1083.
