The Lincoln County Fair grounds are missing its staple image, the Grand Stand. It was damaged in a storm in July and had to be taken down.
The decision to build a new one is still up in the air however. The county is slated to receive $1.1 million from their insurance company to aid in building a new structure.
A board member says they’re guaranteed $300,000 of that, but to receive the additional $900,000 they must sign an offer that says construction would be started within a six month period.
The board is at a stand still because if they did receive the entire amount to build the new grandstand, they’d still be short. The replacement value of getting a new grandstand is well over $2 million dollars.
The other option to get additional money would be to bring in a large donor who would contribute the remaining funds and offer the structure plans.
