The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department is warning anglers to take their valuable off the ice when they leave for the day. This after the Sheriff's Department received multiple reports of thefts from ice shanties this week, with Lake Alexander being the latest target.
They say thieves normally force entry into ice shacks and steal items such as augers and other ice fishing supplies. This year thieves are also taking propane tanks.
If you see any suspicious activity on the ice or know anything about these thefts you are asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department at (715) 536-6272 or the Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at (715) 536-3726.
