The Lincoln County Rec. Deputy is reporting a very successful winter sports season in the county.

Snowmobile trails partially opened in Lincoln County on December 19 and stayed open until the end of March. The Rec. Deputy says the trails remained in excellent shape throughout the season and he met with an above average amount of trail riders who were all positive about the county’s trail system. There were very few crashes on the trails this year, none involved death and only one resulted in serious injury to the driver. The Rec. Deputy reports OWI arrests were up for the year while other violations seemed to be average even though more riders appear to be taking trail signs such as stop signs more seriously.

He also found an above average amount of anglers on the water throughout the season although some had troubles getting their shacks removed.

The Rec. Deputy wants to remind ATV and UTV enthusiasts that their season will probably be pushed back due to the excess water this year. It's also the second year rear license plates are required on machines and all riders should always wear helmets and take a safety course to ensure a safe ride.
