An early morning house fire in Merrill is being blamed on a possible lightning strike.
The Merrill Fire Department was called to a home at W5084 South Shore Drive in the Town of Merrill at approximately 5:44 AM Saturday. When fire crews arrived on scene smoke and fire was visible on the west side of the home.
The fire has been deemed to be storm related. The homeowner told firefighters a thunderstorm was running through the area when he heard a loud lightning strike.
No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the home and contents.
