Lending A Helping Paw

Saturday was the annual South Wood County Humane Society Christmas Bazaar. A great opportunity to get a little Christmas shopping done and help a good cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go straight to the animals at the Humane Society.

"We want to remember those animals in need during this time. We would love to get them into homes for the holidays. A lot of folks are looking to buy maybe a puppy or kitten for their family and we just want to encourage people to check out their local shelter and see what they have available for adoption," Executive Director for the South Wood County Humane Society, Bridget Chariton, told NewsChannel 7.

Christmas decorations, home-made baked goods and pet apparel were all available for purchase at bargain basement prices. Last year the Bazaar raised over $8,000 for the Humane Society, This year's goal was to raise $10,000.

If you would like to help the South Wood County Humane Society this holiday season, you can stop bye the shelter and pick up a bone from the donation tree. Each bone has one of the shelter's needs written on it. You can also bring in your own holiday items to donate. They collect goodies for the Christmas Bazaar all year long.
