An 8-year-old has helped raise more than $1,800 for Project Live Saver in Wood and Portage Counties.
Over the weekend, Haili Hintz sold lemonade at Altenburg's Corn Maze in Wisconsin Rapids to help raise money. The business also donated all corn maze and corn cannon proceeds on September 29 and 30 to Project Live Saver of Wood and Portage counties. Harold Altenburg tells NewsChannel 7 both counties will receive $900 each.
Project Lifesaver is national program available to adults and children who may be vulnerable to wandering off. Individuals enrolled in the program wear a wristband that emits an individually assigned FM radio frequency. If the wearer wanders off and is reported missing, local law enforcement agents will respond to the area the individual was last known to be in and begin the search using the mobile locator tracking system. In many cases, search time has been reduced from hours and days to minutes.
In June, Haili raised $300 with a rummage sale and lemonade stand.
Haili mother, Traci, says her daughter was diagnosed with Asperger's and Bipolar Disorder and wants to get the message out that anybody can make a difference, no matter your age or your challenges in life.
