A Democratic state senator says a 1 percent pay raise approved by the Legislature for state employees will not cover those still in a union contract or those with a recognized representative.
Sen. Jon Erpenbach on Thursday sent a letter to Gov. Scott Walker saying raising the issue and asking that Walker take steps to make sure the raise apply across the board.
Walker's spokesman Tom Evenson did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Erpenbach says if Walker doesn't take action, he hopes the Legislature addresses the issue this fall. Erpenbach says anything less is "punishment" for workers who took action to keep their unions alive following passage of the 2011 law that took away all of their bargaining rights except for base wage increases.
