Update: 1,400 participants and almost 300 volunteers helped out at the Race for the Cure.

Race coordinator Jennifer Smith says 75 percent of the proceeds from the race stay in Wausau while 25 percent go back to the national organization to fund research.

Quinten and Trent Eberhardy or Kronenwetter raced in honor of their two aunts, both of whom are survivors.

"It was really exciting but a little challenging," says Trent.
