Larry Detjens Memorial Race Gears Up for it's 34th Year

State Park Speedway in Rib Mountain prepares for their biggest race of the year, the Larry Detjens Memorial Race.

The Larry Detjens Memorial Race, now in its 34th year celebrates Larry Detjens, a race car driver who was killed while racing in 1982.

Racing will take place on Friday and Saturday night, July 25-26th. The Big 8 series will be going on Friday and the Big Auto Select Detjens Memorial 125 will take place on Saturday night. Aside from the racing, family fun is going on with a bean bag toss tournament and Saturday morning breakfast at the bar.

Additionally, the Wimmer family, who own State Park Speedway, have a special connection to Larry Detjens and the Detjens family. Brothers Scott and Chris Wimmer, both very accomplished in the racing world, will be racing this weekend.
