The Langlade County Sheriff has written a letter to area residents, asking them to be patient and avoid speculation while they conduct an investigation. Details about who or what is being investigated were not disclosed.
NewsChannel 7 did report yesterday on the unexplained administrative leave of absence of Antigo Elementary Principal and High School Football Coach John Lund. We have received numerous unsubstantiated tips as to the reasons for the leave of absence, but the School District and Law Enforcement would not provide any details. Lund has not been arrested or charged with any crimes.
The letter, which appears in the Antigo Daily Journal, reads:
"The Langlade County Sheriff's Office is in the midst of a complex criminal investigation.
To protect the integrity of this investigation I cannot and will not at this time disclose either the nature or scope of the investigation nor will I identify any individuals involved in this investigation.
While I understand and appreciate the communities desire for information I must ask for your patience and understanding in allowing us to complete a fair, impartial and comprehensive investigation. This will take time. At the conclusion of the investigation information allowed by law will be released.
I can assure you that we will investigate all information obtained and will pursue whom ever and where ever the investigation leads us. Speculation, rumors or contacting outside media sources in an attempt to obtain more information will not assist this investigation. It will not lead to information being released sooner or decrease the amount of time it takes to complete the investigation.
Sheriff Bill Greening"
