DODGEVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- Lands' End says it's planning to lay off nearly 200 workers from its Dodgeville call center because fewer customers still place their orders over the phone.

The clothing and home-goods retailer says customers are increasingly moving online. So it's cutting 199 positions from its customer-contact center, a 29 percent reduction.

The company says it's eliminating 86 full-time and 63 part-time positions by the end of January. It's also cutting 50 positions based on overlapping roles and responsibilities.

Lands' End says call volume has fallen more than 50 percent over the last 10 years. Chief executive Edgar Huber says nearly 80 percent of U.S. customers shop through the company's website.

A WISC-TV report says Lands' End will still have customer-contact centers in Dodgeville, Reedsburg and Stevens Point.
