La Crosse Co. Double Homicide to be Featured on "48 Hours"

A La Crosse County double homicide case that resulted in the conviction of Eric Koula spending life in prison in the deaths of his parents will be featured on “48 Hours”.

Merna and Dennis Koula, were found shot to death in their Town of Barre home in May 2010. Their son, Eric, was found guilty by jury trial of their homicides in June 2012 and later sentenced to two consecutive terms of life in prison. The 68-year-old father and 65-year-old mother died instantly of gunshot wounds to the head.

Prosecutors say Eric Koula was motivated by inheritance money. The defense argued both were victims of a professional killer. Defense attorney Jim Korby said there was no forensic evidence linking Koula to the crime -- no fingerprints, no DNA, no murder weapon.

The episode is scheduled to air Saturday, February 9 at 9 pm on NewsChannel 7.
