The Kronenwetter Village Board of Trustees has approved the purchase of a new K-9 officer for the Kronenwetter Police Department. On March 11, the department’s K-9 officer, Chip had to be put to sleep due to complications from Blastomycosis. Chip was a Belgian Malinois and would have turned four-years-old this June.
Earlier this month the department asked the board to consider a new dog that would be trained in drug detection and human trafficking. The cost of the dog ranges between $10,000 to $19,000.
On Wednesday, the program received a $10,000 donation from the B.A. and Ester Greenheck Foundation.
If you’d like to make a donation to the Kronewetter Canine Unit you can mail a check to the Kronenwetter Police Department.
