On January 1st, everyone will wake up to a new year. Unfortunately, some of us will also wake up to something else as a result of too much drinking the night before.

Curing a hangover can take up to 24 hours, but here are some tips from the experts:

-get some sleep

-replenish your body with fruit or vegetable juice and water

-eat mineral and protein-rich food

-get some exercise

Avoiding caffeine can also help as drinking it can continue to dehydrate you. Also, contrary to popular belief, avoid aspirin. Because it is a blood thinner, as is alcohol, the effects of aspirin can intensify and do extra damage to your liver.

Of course, the best cure for a hangover has always been watching how much you drink.
