Judge to Hear Arguments in Wis. Voter ID Lawsuit

A judge is scheduled to hear arguments this week about the constitutionality of Wisconsin's new voter photo identification law.

Supporters argue the Republican-authored law will help curtail fraud. Opponents counter the law disenfranchises groups of people who likely don't have identification, such as the poor, minorities and the disabled. The League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit in Dane County against Gov. Scott Walker and state election officials challenging the law. The group argues the state constitution bars only children, felons and the mentally incompetent from voting and the Legislature improperly prohibited a new class of people — namely, those without IDs — from voting.

The state Justice Department has filed a motion to dismiss the case. Judge Richard Niess is set to hear arguments on Thursday.

It seems all we hear about is the Walker Administration and the Republicans going to court. How much is this costing each of us tax payers? I would think the scales have tipped on Walker saving the state money. I can't believe the number of his bumbleing mistakes. He should have been a Keystone Cop.

I do not have a problem with a voter ID. My problem is once again how the Republicans and Walker has handled this. If the law is so important, be reasonable, help those who have problems obtaining a valid voter ID. Make it easier to obatin this ID with reference or help them obtain paperwork if it is not in fraud. What is wrong is to slam the elderly that probably did not have a birth certificate. They voted with a record of voting for years and years, probably in the same polling place. A number of people didn't need an birth cetificate, they received a drivers licenses, qualified for SSI, paid income taxes, had medical records dating way back, utility bills and real estate tax. This is where I see discrimination. It seems to me they want to block the elderly from voting. What a shame! These politicans do not have any conscience what so ever. I guess that is why some of them may look at recalls. I guess discrimination without reason would warrant this move.

It seems to me the dems want voter fraud so they can win elections just look at the amount of people that said they signed recall papers more than once you will lose this battle with the people!
