Jail Time Ordered for Woman Convicted of Stealing from Wausau Law Firm

The former Marathon County Court Clerk with a history of embezzlement is now convicted of stealing from a former employer and will spend 180 days in jail.

Susan Adams, 59, reached a plea deal with prosecutors Tuesday in Marathon County Circuit Court. Adams pleaded guilty to four counts of forgery, as result four other charges were dismissed but were considered during sentencing.

Prosecutors said the crimes happened while Adams worked for a Wausau law firm.

The Wausau Daily Herald cites a criminal complaint stating Adams was convicted of embezzling more than $100,000 from M&I Bank in Wausau in 1994. According to that criminal complaint she was also fired in 2003 from a Rothschild company under suspicion of theft.

A judge also ordered Adams to spend five years on probation.
