A 42-year-old Shawano County man is behind bars on a $10,000 cash bond after he's accused of possessing chemical compounds believed to be used for the production of bath salts.
According to a release from the Shawano County Sheriff's Department, officers executed a search warrant at the home on Lake Street in Aniwa, which is south of Antigo on December 10.
Investigators say after a 4 ½ search of the property they located numerous substances and paraphernalia believed to be part of a distribution operation.
Officers from the Shawano County Sheriff's Department and the Antigo Police Department conducted the search.
Shawano County Sheriff Thomas Tuma said the home was equipped with surveillance and a reinforced door.
Investigators say Mike Waldner, the home's occupant, would not open the door when deputies knocked and announced their presence.
Waldner remains in the Shawano County Jail. He's expected to be charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors related to the possession of drugs, including maintaining a drug trafficking place. His next court appearance has been scheduled for Dec. 23.
