Hospital Dreams Up Real Life Nightmare

Preparation is everything, and that’s why one hospital in our area is preparing for the worst. Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield braced for a mass casualty plane crash. The scenario tested their response as an emergency response team.

More than 50 different nurses and doctors staged a realistic disaster to help them prepare. Victims came in by ambulance and were transferred through the ER to be grouped according to how bad their injuries were.

Doctor Ivan Maldonado added, “It went very well but the purpose of this drill is not to feel well, but to be prepared as much as we can be.”

Hospitals are required to hold a minimum of two emergency drills a year.
