The Marathon County Health Department is urging a dog owner to come forward to hopefully prevent a little boy to have to go through a series of rabies shots.

The health department said in a news release, a seven-year-old boy was bit by a large Rottweiler-type dog around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The boy was with his mother. It happened near the corner of S. 5th Avenue and West Street in Wausau.

The dog was wearing a dark green or black harness and was being walked by a woman with brown, shoulder length hair. She's believed to have been in her 30s. The dog's owner was wearing running pants and bright pink shirt.

If you are the dog owner, or believe you know who the dog owner is, please contact the health department at (715) 849-7785.
