NewsChannel 7 is learning more about the weapon used in a deadly weekend shooting in Weston. Police say one of the guns found near where the suspect was apprehended matches one stolen from a Lincoln County gun shop.
20-year-old Lee Xiong was fatally shot in Weston Saturday evening. 21-year old Richi Vue was arrested and is jailed on a $1,000,000 bond. Now, ballistics tests are underway to determine if the gun used in the shooting was among dozens recently stolen in two gun shop break-ins.
On October 1st, four handguns went missing from Condition One Gun Shop in Wausau, one of those weapons- a 40 caliber handgun. The same size weapon used in Saturday’s homicide. It was one of two found near Vue when he was taken into custody in Clark County.
Right now, police are not saying it's the murder weapon, at least not until ballistic results come back in a few weeks.
Captain Clayton Schulz, of the Everest Metro Police Department says, "We did recover two weapons in association with this in Clark County when we found the truck. The truck was abandoned. We did find a 40 caliber handgun that was loaded. We did find a 40 caliber casing at the scene, at the Aspen Street Apartments."
According to Everest Metro Police, one of the weapons Vue had possession of matches a 357 magnum stolen from a Tomahawk gun shop a week prior to the shooting. More than 50 guns went missing after the October first break-in to that business, Statton's General Store.
There are multiple law enforcement agencies working this case. Wausau Police Chief Jeff Hardel says each department is working together, giving any piece of evidence they may have.
All of the departments involved in the investigation will be meeting Wednesday to review all collected evidence, and bring any new details they may have together.
