A 32-year-old fugitive has been arrested about an hour northwest of Eau Claire in Dunn County.
Sheriff's officials say they received a call about 5:30 p.m. Monday that the armed suspect was outside a residence near Dallas, Wis. The suspect, Jared Brendel fled before deputies arrived. But, they found his truck in a field not far away.
Dunn County sheriff's deputies, the Washburn County SWAT team, Turtle Lake Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol were involved in the search by land and air.
Brendel was considered armed and potentially dangerous.
According to WEAU-TV, two Barron County deputies fired at least six shots that hit a stolen car being driven by Brendel. Sheriff Smith says Brendel fired at least one shot, which hit one of the Barron County squad cars.
Investigators say Brendel's car went in the ditch. They then took him into custody south of Ridgeland.
Brendel was taken to the Dunn County jail where he is awaiting formal charges.
No one was injured during the manhunt and arrest.
