A Minnesota-based food distribution program says its goal of providing a hand up, not a hand out, is active in central Wisconsin.
Each month, dozens volunteers distribute groceries to about 300 families in Marshfield and many other rural communities for a small fee of $15. The grocery items vary from month to month, and include such items as frozen chicken, pizza, potatoes, bread, juice beverages, canned goods, chips and snacks, baking items, cheese, bread, and more. Participants will receive approximately 70 pounds of food.
“Ruby's Pantry”, will distribute groceries again Saturday, March 16 at East Gate Alliance Church, located at 2203 East Becker road in Marshfield. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the food distribution is from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to bring their own boxes or laundry baskets (at least 2) to fill with groceries.
Organizers say there are no income restrictions, and this program is open to everyone. For questions, please call East Gate Alliance Church at 715-387-3654.
