Don't just buy your plants at the Village Gardens green house of Plover. Buy your plants and give yourself extra time to check out the 4.5 acres of unbelievable yard next door.
The whole idea is to give you some ideas of what to do with what you just purchased. Employee Jennifer Young says "Warren Linsmeier went to Europe and saw a lot of gardens and he came back and was inspired to build a garden like that."
This garden features a spectacular water feature at the center and sculpture garden. There's statuary. It also has perennials that are too many to count. But they did manage to count the number of annuals that call it home this year, roughly 4000 of them, not including containers
Everyone who works at the green house pitches in to keep it perfect and all that work provides a very welcome setting.
"You can come here and have a cup of coffee or read the paper. We have people come here during work we bring school groups to the garden," says Young.
It's also, as you might guess, is a popular spot for weddings and wedding pictures.
To start down the path of making your own back yard fit for a wedding the advice is two fold. Don't be afraid to experiment. because you can always replant or replace something that doesn't really work. And don't skimp.
Young says, "if you're gonna plant annuals, I'd recommend planting them in large groups. That doesn't mean you have to plant 4000, but don't plant five marigolds. Get a flat and plant a big swath of color. It'll look a lot better."
