Granite Peak Ski Area is shut down closed Monday and Tuesday due to the weather.

A spokeswoman tells NewsChannel 7 they did it to protect the skiers.
If there were injuries on the hill or if the lift broke down with people on it, the deadly cold would make matters even worse for the victims.

The woman we talked to said it's the first time Granite Peak closed because of cold in the nine years she's worked there.

It's expected to re-open on Wednesday.
