Governor Scott Walker will be in central Wisconsin Wednesday morning for his “Turning Around Wisconsin” tour. The governor spoke at Stanley-Boyd Elementary school last Thursday, but canceled his Schofield appearance due to weather.
The governor's State of the State speech last Wednesday, focused a great deal on education. Gov. Walker outlined an education plan based off of three bipartisan task forces that have been meeting for nearly a year, according to the Governor's office. The governor's office says the education reform package will improve accountability in school systems, improve teacher training, and improve elementary school reading. Walker will talk about that at the school, and he will also read to 3rd grade students as part of his "Read to Lead" initiative. The program is designed to increase reading skills of kids before they hit 4th grade.
Gov. Walker will be at J&D Tube Benders, Inc. in Schofield at 11:40 a.m. NewsChannel 7 will have a crew at the visit and will have full coverage tonight.
