Joyce Bloecherkastner has new homes under construction. But she doesn't need a building permit for her latest project.
"There's a lot of sanding, a lot of painting, a lot of gluing, waiting for things to dry..."
Joyce builds doll houses and sells them at the Talent Shop inside Goodwill in Rib Mountain.
"I've always been with the Talent Shop," says Joyce, "I think it was my first doll house, and I've had doll houses here ever since."
She started building the dollhouses for her grandchildren after her son's father passed away. But the death of her husband has continued her passion, and it's her way of giving back.
"My husband, Joe, passed away of Alzheimer's and hospice is so marvelous," she says, "they help me, they helped him, so I wanted to give back. So we're donating a house."
Joyce says the memory of her husband is what helps her put up each window covering and move in every leather couch.
"It's just overwhelming...I'll tear up. I wanted to give back and that's my way of doing it."
