Goodwill’s Talent Shop is encouraging people to start cleaning out their closets and basements to find used items that can be donated during its annual donation drive.

The drive will be conducted in the greater Wausau area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
Merrill – Wal-Mart, 3500 E. Main St.
Mosinee – Kwik Trip, 500 Cherry St.
Rib Mountain – Goodwill, 1100 Morning Glory Lane
Wausau – County Market, 220 S. 18th Ave.; Kwik Trip, 3853 N. 6th St.; and WSAW-TV, 1114 Grand Ave.
Weston – Aspirus YMCA, 3402 Howland, Ave., and Goodwill, 2713 Schofield Ave.

Right now, Goodwill especially needs donations of clothing, shoes and household items.

When people donate to the Oct. 6 drive, they are supporting the mission of two local nonprofits – the Talent Shop and Goodwill – both of which directly help people in the greater Wausau area community. The Talent Shop has been a program of Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin since 2008.

Goodwill’s Talent Shop is a nonprofit consignment shop that sells unique handcrafted items made by area artisans age 50 and older. Shoppers can find a large selection of quality merchandise such as quilts, custom furniture, seasonal decorations, embroidered and crocheted items, and jewelry. The shop was established in 1968 and moved from its previous downtown Wausau location to the Rib Mountain Goodwill complex at 1100 Morning Glory Lane in 2011.

“The Talent Shop provides the opportunity for seniors age 50 and older to earn some extra income, as well as being a place where they can volunteer to work in the shop and remain engaged with the community,” said Lori Plaza, outreach leader for the Talent Shop and the Rib Mountain Goodwill.
