Giving Tree Helping those in Need in Langlade County


It may be hard to believe, but you only have 7 more weekends to get your Christmas shopping done. But some families need your help to put presents under the tree.

All across Langlade County there are giving trees. Each tree has the name of a child who's parents may not be able to afford Christmas presents. Residents can pick up a name and buy presents listed on that card and return the gifts by December 13th.

The woman who organizes the project says she know how these families feel, all too well.

"When I was 12," explained organizer, Katie Clay, "my family needed help. The sisters here at the hospital in town found a family that helped our family. The following year, my brothers and I used babysitting money, paper route money... and we helped a family."

Katie says after helping as a teen, she wanted to continue the project and expand it across the county. The trees are still being put up.

You may also give a monetary donation if you wish. Katie asks checks be made to The Giving Tree and be mailed to:
