A Wisconsin native is scheduled to be featured in the Dec. 3 issue of People Magazine as one of eight people who have taken jobs in the oil fields.
Brad Korenuk, 20, of Gilman, took his first pipelining job at age 18 and returned to the oil industry five months ago. During an interview with WEAU-TV, Korenuk says he went to tech school in Medford and was asked if he’d wanted to rejoin the pipelining industry.
“You get exhausted after so long. Sometimes I was working 35 hours on, two hours off in a day. In a week, you get about 125 hours a week. It’s a lot of work. It tires a man out after a while,” he says.
North Dakota has risen from the nation's ninth-leading oil producer to No. 2 behind Texas in just six years, according to the Associated Press.
Korenuk says he plans to get out of the industry in a couple of years and go to school for computer network analysis and graphics.
