A Gillett man is dead following a motorcycle crash on CTH E near Plier Road in Green Valley.

According to the Shawano County Sheriff's Office, the call came in just after 7 p.m. Saturday night. 48-year-old Scott K. Courchaine, was travelling eastbound when he crossed the centerline and entered a gravel edge along the roadway. He attempted to drive back on to the roadway as he approached a curve. The motorcycle then went sideways and entered a ditch, ejecting the driver.

Gillett Area Ambulance and a Shawano County Paramedic unit responded to the scene. Courchaine suffered severe head trauma and was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities say alcohol appears to be a factor.
