Getting in shape is a resolution many people traditionally have. Gym memberships often spike after the 1st of the year, but there are other forms of exercise that you can do to get in shape.
A local yoga teacher says her classes are usually packed each January, with new students eager to learn about the practice.
Mary Hilliker from River Flow Yoga says, "After the 1st of the year, it's always a good time for most yoga teachers because people are interested in improving their health in the new year and they're interested in improving their fitness."
She says yoga is a good alternative to the gym because it's inexpensive and works on your physical as well as mental well-being.
