Saturday the public was invited to bring their cars to Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids for a free car check-up. Although the event was targeted at seniors, all were welcomed to come bye.
Trained technicians checked basics like your oil, fluid levels, batteries, and tire pressure. Then volunteers did a free Carfit inspection, making sure drivers were safe and comfortable in the cars. Even if you're not a senior, the safety advice they shared also applies to you.
"I think one of the big things people need to be aware of is making sure you're sitting far enough away from the steering wheel so that if you do end up getting in an accident you're far enough away from the air bag, but still comfortably able to reach the pedals," Occupational Therapist and volunteer Kathy Bohman said.
If you missed the car clinic, the technicians there recommend you get your car inspected by your mechanic before the snow starts to fall.
